Mother Nature vs. Mother Nature

We just spent two days filming a scene called Cooking With Mother Nature, for our upcoming underwater video.  In this scene, Laura was dressed as Mother Nature to demonstrate how to make a delicious ocean.  We were fortunate to use a friends’ beautiful kitchen, which had a beautiful patio outside.  But during the shoot, the real Mother Nature showed up with a vicious thunderstorm.  We waited for a couple of hours for the storm to pass, and while we were standing in the kitchen, we suddenly heard an intense gust of wind and the sound of shattering glass.  We looked outside the blinds to see their patio table and umbrella in a heap of twisted metal and shattered glass.  Their deck chairs blew over their deck railing and into the neighbors’ yard.  And a potted tree tipped over and broke.  None of the other neighbors had quite so much damage.  Maybe Mother Nature was trying to tell us she liked (or didn't like) our scene.  -- Robert Sams
