Ever wondered what happens when a book is printed? I just got back from Friesens printing company, where I watched A Pirate's Quest come hot off the press.

At the 2008 Book Expo America in Los Angeles last week, we debuted our new children’s picture book - A Pirates Quest (for his family heirloom peg leg). The response was great. At the book show, I was dressed as the pirate from the story and had my guitar ready so that I could serenade innocent people passing by.

Our book is starting to take shape. I don't have any crazy stories, but I'm so excited about seeing some of the paintings that I wanted to share a couple.

Today, my neighbors watched me lie face-down on a tiny table in my backyard and pretend to swim. And did I mention I was dressed like a pirate? We were taking pictures of me in pirate poses to use as reference for our upcoming children’s picture book.

We waited for a couple of hours for the storm to pass, and while we were standing in the kitchen, we suddenly heard an intense gust of wind and the sound of shattering glass . . .

We did it! We finally filmed the scene we have been waiting for! We spent this month in Hawaii filming life in the tide pools, along with several pirate scenes . . .

This week we have been down near Palm Beach, on the Atlantic coast of Florida, filming sea turtles and other creatures on the reef. I was busy filming . . . and I felt a hard tap on my shoulder. I turned to see Laura, who was hovering above me, with her eyes open way too wide. I knew something was wrong and that she was scared . . .

Hatchling sea turtles are cute! I mean we were totally unprepared for how cute they are in person. A baby loggerhead sea turtle is about the length of my thumb . . .
