Riddle in a Bottle Wins Big Kahuna Award

THE RIDDLE IN A BOTTLE WINS AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN FILMMAKING
DVD wins Gold Kahuna Award at the 2009 Honolulu International Film Festival

Portland, OR – March 1, 2009 - The Riddle in a Bottle has been chosen to receive the Gold Kahuna Award for excellence in filmmaking at the 2009 Honolulu International Film Festival on March 6 – 8 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Riddle in a Bottle, by filmmakers Laura Sams and Robert Sams of Sisbro Studios, LLC, teaches children how life on Earth is connected by moving water. The movie features two siblings, The Riddle Solvers, who work to solve a mysterious riddle from the ocean, which they find in a magic bottle. They receive clues from sea turtles, tide pool creatures, pond animals and even a singing pirate.

"We spent a month filming in Hawaii to tell a five minute story about tide pools. For hours Robert hovered in one spot, letting all the small creatures in the tide pool meander back and forth in front of the camera,” says Laura Sams. “It was a truly exciting time, never knowing what could show up in the tide pool from day to day. One time a humpback whale jumped out of the water about 100 feet off shore!"

"It is rewarding to win an award in Hawaii, since we spent time filming there. Hawaii is truly a magical place, and we wanted to convey some of that in the film," says Robert Sams.

The Honolulu International Film Festival is held annually on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. The festival recognizes outstanding achievement in filmmaking from around the world.
