Sisbro WINS at BLUE Ocean Film Festival
Sisbro Shines Among the World’s Greatest Assembly of Ocean Films and Filmmakers
At the inaugural BLUE Ocean Film Festival, a global film and conservation event with the world’s greatest assembly of ocean films and filmmakers held June 11-14, 2009 in Savannah, Georgia . . . The Riddle in a Bottle won the award for Best of Children's Programming!
The Riddle in a Bottle defeated several high-quality children's programs, including Dugong and Din, from Animal Planet and Off the Fence. Other award winners included ocean explorers and filmmakers Fabien and Celine Cousteau and world-renowned scientist/author/oceanographer Dr. Sylvia Earle. Walt Disney Studios’ Disneynature, along with Jean-Francois Camilleri, executive vice president of Disneynature, opened the festival with a screening of its first theatrical release, EARTH, and promoted its upcoming release OCEANS.
BLUE is the first industry film festival and awards competition in the Unites States that is dedicated to oceans, and the winners represent one of the greatest collections of ocean films in the world. The competition was fierce, with over 200 entries submitted by the most talented ocean producers in the world.
Robert Sams attended the festival, and he was so excited that he reportedly hurdled the stage to receive the award, a beautiful whale statue from whale artist Randy Puckett. “To be in the company of so many incredible filmmakers and ocean experts was humbling and thrilling,” Robert Sams said.
"I want to thank the Save Our Seas Foundation for helping fund the project," added Robert. "And finally, I would like to dedicate this award to my Grandma Max, the voice of the loggerhead sea turtle in the movie. She passed away recently and was a beautiful, intelligent and witty lady who truly loved the ocean and all its wonders."
