I am a submarine, not a plane.  I live in the south, not the north.  I am dressed like I’m going to a formal dance.  Who am I?

I can sizzle like bacon.  I am made with an egg.  I have plenty of backbone, but lack a good leg.
I peel layers like onions, but still remain whole.  I can be long, like a flagpole, yet fit in a hole.

I stand 28 inches tall on my pink feet.  I chomp krill with my black beak until I reach 9 pounds. I don't ride a bike, but my head looks like I do with a strap under my chin.  I don't eat sandwiches, but swim around the South Sandwich Islands. Who am I?
