Family Heirloom Cannonball

One Day I Lost My Family's Heirloom Cannon Ball, by Michael Hennie, 4th grade

One day I lost my family's heirloom cannon ball at the park. I was rolling it really hard to see if I could run faster than it, but the cannon ball fell in a hole. I dug up the thole but there were three different paths. When I followed the three paths I dug pretty much the whole park. It was hard. While I was digging there was a stop light next to me that changed from red to green over five hundred times. It took a very long time.

I saw a mole come out of the ground. I thought that if a mole could make a hole in the gorund iti could get the cannon ball back. He would either push the ball out a different hole that he made, or stop right before the ball, then I could take it right out. I can't wait to get my cannon ball out. This cannon ball is very important to my family. Our family used it to teach everybody how to aim the cannons. It is one hundred years old. It looks black and round with some dents.

I couldn't wait to get my ball ot of the ground. ARGH! There is my ball! The mole found it! My cannon ball, I am never going to roll you in the dirt again.
